It is important to emphasize to you the difference between my work and other children's photographers. My sessions usually yield up to 36 proofs. So unlike other photographers who come in aiming to get just one good portrait shot, I go in with the goal of getting many shots that you will be happy with.
My photographic images are an expression of a sensibility strongly influenced by my experience in the field of graphic design. I capture moments that are intimate and sweet as I take great care to capture a fleeting moment -- the spontaneous slight movement or expression your child makes that captures their unique personality. I move in close to see the sweet little curve of their chin. I pull back to capture a shared moment between mother and child. I enjoy knowing that each of these precious images has the potential to be the one that makes a parent draw in their breath and marvel at their own creation.
Professional photographers often use these milestones to help you choose when to have your baby photographed:
- 3 months: baby is smiling
- 6 months: baby can lie on their stomach and hold their head up
- 9 months: baby can sit up
Since my images are natural, informal and spontaneous, I do not work in a studio with lighting, but instead I come to your home where we can capture your child in comfortable naturally lit environments.
You know your baby, so you know when they are at their best. You should choose a time that your baby will be content, relaxed and happy. Sessions can be scheduled monday-friday during daylight hours, and on some weekends. The session will take from 1 to 1.5 hours.
Simple is better for these shots. Your baby will do best with a white t-shirt or white top with clean simple lines. If you are interested in doing any shots with Mommy then have a couple options for a top. Again, simple is better as the focus will not be on what you are wearing, but on the interaction between you and your child.
My goal is to provide you with images that you will cherish. If you are unhappy with the results of the session, then I will come back for a second session within 2 weeks at no extra charge.
